Green Day

April 08 - Another new experience for us Aussie Californians... I simply call it "Green Day". Literally everything was green. There were multiple shades of green breaking forth from trees and bushes (not to forget to mention the flowers bursting out), to the green in the air. This is the day when the pine pollen pods popped. There was a beautiful eeriness about the atmosphere. Fine green dust blew in like a cloud, leaving behind it's residue. You can really see it here on Deron's truck!
This picture really captures the "green" feel! And it was not photoshopped to look like this!
Meanwhile, the flowers were simply amazing!
And then the rain came!
Rinsing off the fallen pollen from deck.
And Shellie enjoyed the moment to cross stitch for the first time in quite awhile. Don't you just love her reading glasses?!
Back outside, everything got a nice rinse off!
And after the rain... April 09 - The next day, everything was so crispy green!

Deron & Camille

April 02 - Deron & Camille checking out the new growth. Soon the trees and bushes will become a forest of dense greenery! Oh yeah, that's Camille's Easter basket

Cherry Blossom Festival

March 27 - Just about two hours drive south of Athens is a town called Macon. Each year they hold a cherry blossom festival, boasting over 300,000 Yoshino Cherry Trees from Japan. I suppose we were expecting these trees to be all together at some sort of park. But apparently they are scattered all over the city. And I don't think we saw them all. What we found was like a flea market, with stalls set up all over the place. We're talking hundreds of these vendors. Though it wasn't was we expected, it was sure a fun day!!! Deron & Camille
Working our way through the crowds.
Did I mention it was a beautiful day?!Yep! What more can I say?!
Proof there were actually cherry blossom trees!
In fact, if you can read the sign, you would be able to see that this guy, William Arthor Flicking planted some 170,000 of these trees himself!!!
Even Prestin got into the photo taking scene!
Stunning, even if we couldn't find the over 300,000 of them! Lunch time!
Jasen just spontaneously burst out in a prayer!
Grandma looks like it's freezing, but it actually was beautiful day!
After lunch we continued to walk about the city!
Jasen got into taking pictures!
Oh yeah, it was a beautiful day!
The less than 300,000 trees that we saw were very pretty!
It was a fun day!
Like I said, pretty!
These flowers were even painted on the sidewalks!
Stopping to check out the memorial honoring soldiers at Rosa Banks Park! Like I said, they checked it out!
Grandma was trying to get away (just kidding)!
Do you notice what's wierd about this building?
There are doors on the second floor! Oh Prestin!
Another beautiful tree!
And I think I mentioned we walked a lot!
And saw lots of trees with pretty flowers on them!
Here's another just in case you didn't get the sense there were lots of trees! And the walking did come to an end! Yeah!!!
Check out this cool Ford truck that got in front of us on our way home. It was pretty cool until we realised that it also drove pretty slow and we got to enjoy it's back side for quite awhile!!!
